About Marita Dortins
As a gymnast from a young age, I realised early on that I'm happiest upside-down – and when I found yoga, it was love at first Downward Dog. Nearly 20 years after that first class I still find joy within each practice.
I began teaching Iyengar-influenced yoga in 2002 after apprenticing with my first teacher. A few years later I discovered vinyasa yoga, and relished the freedom of flowing through movement and connecting with breath – my yoga practice became a moving meditation. My teaching can now be described as alignment-based vinyasa. I have continued to study yoga both in Australia and overseas, and am accredited as an E-RYT500 with Yoga Alliance, currently the highest level of accreditation. I've been privileged enough to spend the last few years facilitating yoga teacher trainings, mostly for Byron Yoga Centre, in Byron Bay Australia.,
I also practice and teach yin and hatha yoga, acroyoga and meditation.
When I'm not on my mat I'm cooking, reading, spending time in nature, or exploring various corners of this spectacular planet.
